July 2025 Updates

What I've Been Up To:

Hello, hello, book besties!

This past month has been very slow for me, writing-wise. Bar study has completely taken over my life, and at the end of the day I'm so mentally fatigued that I end up playing Stardew Valley for a serotonin boost once my brain shuts off.

But that's not to say I haven't been writing at all -- I've managed to bang out a couple hundred words here and there and have surpassed the 25k word mark in The Shadows that Whisper (Among Shadows #1), which means that I'm a quarter of the way through my draft. I anticipate that August will be a better month for me, and my goal is to have Whisper fully drafted by the end of August, and with Beta readers early September.

What's Coming Next:

As I mentioned last month, I'm taking a step back from the Of Metals and Curses world for a bit to draft the first book in a brand-new series, Among Shadows. I've started shifting my social media content to focus more on this series and will do so even more the deeper I get into this project.

While the first half of the summer has been lacking in the drafting department, the second half of the summer and going into the fall will be packed with writing. Once Among Shadows #1 is with my editor in October, I'll switch gears again and continue drafting Of Metals and Curses #3. That draft is currently sitting at almost 20k words, so my goal (which may be a bit ambitious) is to have it finished before I get my developmental edits back for Among Shadows #1.
